As a rule, we acquire a significant equity investment in a company and invite the management to participate.
Our investment criteria:
- Enterprise value of between EUR 30 and 250 million
- Exclusively majority participations
- Companies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, or which have substantial business with these countries
- Leading market position in attractive (niche) markets
- Strong management teams with the desire to grow
- Healthy balance sheets and solid performance in all business fields

We have collectively acquired a breadth and depth of experience in supporting management and investing in companies in a variety of situations, as we appreciate that businesses can be sold – in full or partially – for many reasons and to serve a wide range of objectives, achieving an attractive price being only one of them. Many successful entrepreneurs do not have the option to hand over their business to the next generation. Having put their heart and soul in the business, economical divestiture is often a prerequisite to “let go.” Second-level management may or may not be in place to successfully take over the business. The existing management wants to take over the business and is looking for a strong partner to provide the necessary support and expertise to take the business forward. This can be initiated by current owners who want to give management the opportunity to become shareholders in the business they have helped to build or by management itself.
A buy-in manager or a management team has identified a business that they want to take over. They are experienced in the industry and believe that they can successfully take the company to the next level. We can support the team and design a structure to facilitate this development.

The EMERAM Team has experience in a broad spectrum of industries and has structured transactions in a variety of situations. Our approach is not only to acquire businesses, but to significantly support them in their development. While we do not interfere with day to day management and operations, we do provide advice and experience and utilize our network to support the growth of our portfolio companies. We typically take two seats on the advisory board, but seek to add external industry experts.
